Classification of Lubricant Additives in China
Petroleum additives play a very important role in improving the performance and quality of petroleum products and enriching product varieties. There are many types and varieties of petroleum additives, and the properties of different types of additives are quite different. In order to develop and produce high-quality petroleum products with suitable additives, it is necessary to understand the classification of petroleum additives.
China's petrochemical industry standard SH/T 0389-1992 "Classification of Petroleum Additives" divides petroleum additives into 4 categories:
- Lubricant additive;
- Fuel additive;
- Additive Package;
- and other additives.

Lubricant additives are divided into detergents and dispersants, antioxidant and anticorrosion additives, oily agents and friction modifiers, extreme pressure & antiwear additives, antioxidants and metal deactivators according to their functions, viscosity index improvers, rust inhibitors, pour point depressants, antifoaming additives, and other groups.
