Additives and action mechanism for improving low temperature fluidity of lubricating oil

In addition to the dewaxing method in production, a more effective way to improve the low temperature fluidity of lubricating oil is to add point reducing agent or viscosity index improver to lubricating oil. Adding point reducing agent can reduce the freezing point of oil in a certain range. The viscosity and temperature properties of oil can be improved by adding finger adhesives. Light distillate materials with small viscosity and low freezing point can be used to produce oil with good low temperature properties and high temperature and high viscosity.
The viscosity of lubricating oil changes with temperature, especially at low temperature of large viscosity lubricating oil. For low viscosity lubricating oil, although low temperature viscosity is small, good low temperature, but high temperature viscosity is small, can not meet the needs of high temperature lubrication, and large viscosity oil, high temperature viscosity, can meet the requirements of high temperature lubrication. But at low temperature, it is very sticky, the engine loses a lot of energy, and it is difficult to start, which brings certain difficulties to the use of winter vehicles in cold regions.
The viscosity-temperature property of base oil can be improved obviously by adding viscosity index improver. According to the comparison, the base oil with medium viscosity does not add finger adhesives. Compared with the multi-grade oil produced by adding finger adhesives to the base oil with small viscosity, the multi-grade oil with low temperature viscosity is far less than ordinary lubricating oil when the high temperature viscosity is basically the same. Obviously, the viscosive-temperature property of lubricating oil with finger adhesive is much better than that of ordinary lubricating oil.
The viscosity index improver is a polymer compound. In mineral oil, its molecules are in different states with the change of temperature, which affects the physicochemical properties of oil. At high temperature, the additive molecules swell, the volume and surface area of the fluid mechanics increase, and the internal friction of the solution increases, which has little influence on the viscosity of the oil. The viscosity index improver is based on different forms at different temperatures to affect the viscosity of the solution, so as to improve the viscosive-temperature properties of the oil.
