FAQ
Q: What is the MOQ of Sulfurized isobutylene?
A: 1 IBC or 1 Pallet, please contact us for the detailed packing info of the lubricant additives.
Q: Does this isobutylene sulfide contain chlorine?
A: Sulfided isobutylene produced by the high-pressure method does not contain chlorine. Some sulfided isobutylene manufacturers in China use traditional production methods. Because sulfur chloride (S₂Cl₂) is used as a raw material, a dechlorination step is required, and trace amounts of chlorine may remain.
Q: Is isobutylene sulfide /sulfurized isobutylene a dangerous chemical?
A: No, sulfurized isobutylene is not classified as a dangerous chemical.
Toxicity data:
Acute oral LD₅₀: 5,980 mg/kg (rat)
Comparison: Lower than zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP, LD₅₀ = 1,250 mg/kg)
Personnel should wear work clothing, gloves, and safety goggles
Avoid inhaling T321 fumes/mist
In case of skin contact, immediately wash with plenty of clean water
In case of eye contact, immediately rinse with water and seek medical examination
Q: May I have a sulfurized isobutylene sample for evaluation?
A: Yes, samples are available, Please contact Chours Sales engineers to get a sample for testing and evaluation in your lubricant formulation.
Q: What is Sulfurized isobutylene T321 (SIB)?
A: Sulfurized isobutylene (SIB) is a transparent oily liquid (orange-yellow to amber).
Chemical structure is a mixture of di-tert-butyl polysulfides:
R--Sx--R
R = tert-butyl group. x = 1 to 6 sulfur atoms.
When x = 3 (di-tert-butyl trisulfide), the best performance is achieved
Q: Is Chorus T321 low-odor?
A: Yes. Chorus T321 has low-odor properties due to the advanced manufacturing process that minimizes the production of odorous byproducts such as thioketones and thiols, which can cause unpleasant odor, darkening, and severe copper corrosion.
Q: What's the Sulfurized isobutylene (SIB) application areas?
A: SIB is an important EP additive, mainly used to blend EP type gear oils to prevent wear and scratches caused by direct metal-to-metal contact.
