Polyisobutylene (PIB) is polymerized from C4 (butane-butene) fraction or high-purity isobutene raw material. PIB is the earliest viscosity index improver to be applied.
Chorus supplies two types of Polyisobutylene: Highly Reactive Polyisobutylene (HRPIB) and conventional PIB. In the Lube additive industry, PIB is mainly used as a raw material for the production of ashless dispersants (PIB1000, PIB1300, and PIB2300); PIB can also be used in oil fuel additives, lubricant base oils, stretch films, sealants, adhesives, mining explosives, and cosmetics.
Chorus also offers Polyisobutylene Succinic Anhydride (PIBSA) for lubricant additives and polymer emulsifier.
