Trimethylolpropane (TMP) ester is a saturated synthetic polyol ester synthesized from trimethylolpropane and organic acids. It is valued for its thermal stability, high viscosity index, and cleanliness, making it widely used in a variety of lubricants as a base stock or an additive component.

 

TMP ester typically acts as a seal swellant and additive solubilizer in engine oils formulated with hydrocarbon base fluids (e.g., PAO, GTL, CTL). At the same time, it also helps improve the carbon deposit and volatility performance of synthetic engine oils.
